Basses The
last few years, I have been playing
Hoyt 5-string basses.
My good friend Karl Hoyt is a luthier, and builds them to my specifications.
I have both a fretted, and a fretless Hoyt, plus the original Hoyt
prototype. They all sound amazing!! I also have a Fender P-bass Lyte
Deluxe Natural fretted, and a Squire Vintage Modified Fretless
Jazz Bass. These are both very
cool little basses, and sound great!

Amps
Gallien-Krueger
always! I have a 700 R.B./ 210 combo I use when I am up north. It's loud,
clean, and reasonably portable. I use a G.K. m.b.150 for smaller gigs.
Around 80, or 90 watts into a single 12. 150 watts with an extension cab.
In
Fort Myers, I use my old G.K. 800 R.B. head. I think this was the very first
one of these on Cape Cod. It's still going strong, and sounds great.
I have
a Bag End
single 15 Deep Red cab that I love! This is the most rugged bass
cab I have ever seen, yet it's fairly light. I stack an
Eden single 10/
coaxial tweeter cab on top, and run them with the 800 R.B.

etc...
I
have a couple of stomp boxes, that I have used at one time or another, but
keep going back to straight into the amp.
I use "Straight Wire bass specific cords," which makes a difference.
Other
than that? uh...
Shure
Beta 58,
and
regular 58 mics. Oh yeah! I can't play a gig without my
Blue Blower fan.
Keeps me cool!! |
